Dokebi are fabled creatures of Korean folklore. Unlike most supernatural beings or "ghosts," however, Dokebi aren't always associated with fear or dread. They can be harmless—sometimes known to even be outwitted by conniving humans—and often use their superpowers to bring great fortune to people. Nevertheless, Dokebi are mischievous and more than capable of punishing mortals of their wrongdoing.
In a way, Dokebi's two-sided disposition is similar to that of the pandemic we are facing (or any challenge for that matter). It is undoubtedly a global disaster, and existential angst runs amok. But, we must find the silver lining… Regardless of how desperate and exhausted, with optimism and a positive bearing, we will steer through.
